Metered Mail
I have a mail meter for my home business. Can I use metered mail for entries if it doesn't state not to do that in the rules?
Metered mail is a definite no-no. Most judging agencies think it
would be an unfair advantage to be able to generate multiple entries
with an automated process. It's just one of those things where having
a meter machine might be an advantage, and the judging agencies are
trying to keep things fair.
It also raises an issue of who owns the
machine and whether the entries would really belong to a business
(that is, co-mingling of funds). There may be agencies out there who will
let it go, but I wouldn't suggest sending in entries with metered mail stamps on them. Postage is too expensive to take chances. So, use the self-adhesive stamps or the envelopes that are preposted and you won't get disqualified.
