The following scam was announced on the radio early this morning.

This is a new twist on an old theme. Instead of someone calling you and having you send them money to claim a prize for a sweepstakes win, they are now asking you for your credit card number.

This time, they are using the actual name of a sweepstakes: The Ford Citibank Drive Away GiveAway. This is one in which the official rules show up in your Ford Mastercard or Visa statement every month saying that you are automatically entered into the drawing. There is also an alternate 3x5 method of entry. So, people may recognize it as being a valid sweepstakes.

They tell you that you won, and that because this sweepstakes is being sponsored by the credit card company, they need you to supply them with your credit card number for verification.
